What does 100 mean?

100 usually is the mark of success in many people's eyes. If you are 100% positive, then that means you have no doubt about your decision. 100 degrees lets you know that it will be an extremely hot but probably beautiful day. The 100th day of school is a big celebration in kindergarten and first grade. Up to this point students have been counting each day of school, looking for number patterns on the calendar, and counting the days by twos, fives, and tens. While the 100th Day is a lot of fun, it is important for children to remember the mathematical significance of the celebration. 100th day of school provides young children opportunities to investigate place value.  And on the fun side of education, it is the mark of the fact that you are 100 days smarter, you have learned over 100 new concepts, and you have survived 100 days in a once unfamiliar environment without your parents. You are also half way through the school year. The 100th day of school is a time to celebrate! But most significantly, on the 100th day of school you got your math test back, and guess what??? You made a 100 on your test!!! How ironic is that? The day that children in kindergarten and first grade are celebrating the mathematical significance of 100 days you come home with a 100 on your math test.  Now that is one huge accomplishment on so many levels. First of all, you are in honors level math. That in itself is huge. Math isn't your strongest subject, but you have never made below a B in the class. You are working hard and it is paying off. I always knew that you could do it. You are in 7th grade and have made the honor roll every 6 weeks. I am so proud of you. The school celebrated your success in an awards ceremony for the people who made the honor roll every 6 weeks. You should be so proud of your accomplishments. I know that dad, Papoo and I sure are. Papoo even took you out to dinner to celebrate.  I know that you think that I am hard on you sometimes. It isn't because I don't care. It is probably because I care too much. I know how incredibly smart and talented you are in all areas of your life. I will continue to motivate you and push you to do better because I know you have it in you to be 100% in all aspects of your life. So whenever you are down or you doubt yourself, think of the most important 100. So what does 100 mean?

I bet you think I have been MIA for a while. You are right. I have been so busy, and I have been neglecting something way too important to let any more time pass. My postings to you will hopefully get back on track. Even if I take some time away from writing your blog, it doesn't mean I am not thinking about all the amazing things you have accomplished. You are in 7th grade now. Wow, that is really hard for me to believe. In a year and half you will be at the high school with me. Where in the world has the time gone??? You have had a busy year and are much more involved in school. You played on the Cook Rangers 7th grade football team. I am definitely proud of you! There were over 70 kids on your team, and you were lucky enough to play in every game and on several plays. You played on offense and seemed to really enjoy yourself. You had quite a cheering squad! Papoo, Kiki's family, Ma and Pa, Uncle Zachy and Aunt Valerie, Mae Mae, Aunt Vicki, Ms. Debra, our family and Vickie were there to cheer you on for your games. And don't let me forget Ms. Dana. She has become like a second mom to you. You spend almost every weekend at her house. You and Jacob have formed a lasting friendship. Riding 4 wheelers and camping outside has become some of your favorite past times. I am glad you are hanging out with such a good friend. Sometimes it is hard to find good friends in life. So always treat your friends with respect and stand up for them. Middle school is difficult and sometimes comes with drama. Don't ever let something someone says or does intimidate you or make you feel bad about yourself. You are an amazing and smart young man. You can do anything you set your mind to. You have created so many beautiful pieces in wood shop this year. We will always treasure our special gifts. Continue to have pride in yourself and your school. Show your school spirit and cheer loud when you attend the other sporting events at your school. Always know that I am thinking about you. I know Mamoo is smiling down on you. Whenever you feel the warmth of the sun on your face, imagine the gentle kiss Mamoo is sending you from heaven. I know she is so proud of you. Continue to hold her in your heart and do all the things in life that would make her so proud. This week will be 6 years since we said goodbye to her.  She may not be here with us physically, but I continue to see her in you every day. Thanks for always keeping her spirit alive. You are an amazing young man, and I am proud to call you my son.

You are growing up!

Your new haircut!

It is so hard for me to believe that you are growing up so fast. You decided that you wanted to get a new hairstyle. This seems to be the thing most kids want to do when they move into junior high. I can remember doing the same thing! Everyone always wants to look and feel older and shed that elementary feel. I must say, I love your new haircut and so does everyone else. It sure does make you look older. Fairly soon, my first born baby boy will be a teenager. Wow! That is so hard to believe and even imagine! I am so incredibly proud of you. You are so smart and do so well in school. I know you will be successful in the future. I know you make your Mamoo proud. Whatever you do in life and as you get older, always remember to be kind to people and treat them with respect. You never know, you might just make someone's day. I love you to the moon and back!

"I Need a Vacation"!

Tonight was your 6th grade choir concert. I was so incredibly proud of you! You did incredible when it came to your solo part. I think you may have found your calling. Lol Kiki filmed it, and I am so glad she did. It was nice to watch you over again. You keep up the good work. I think you may be on to something. I am so proud of you. I am one lucky mom! I love you always and forever!

Do, Re, Mi, Fa, So ,La, Ti, Do...

I didn't have your blog up before your first choir concert so I thought I would tell you all about it now. The 1st choir concert and one of your football games just so happened to be scheduled the same night. You and two of your teammates had to go to the concert before your game. I thought you did fabuolous! Ma, Pa, Papoo, Zachy, Valerie, and of course your dad, brother, and sister, and I all attended. We were all starving after the concert, but we had no time to stop and eat since we were rushing to get to your game. It seemed like it was a 100 miles away, but we made it before half time. Your teammates were all glad to see you guys run on to the field. I am so proud of you this year. You have become so much more involved. Choir always has fun activities planned for you guys. Who knows, maybe you will be famous like Ma one day and be singing on the radio! :) I love you forever and always!
